It’s almost 2016, can you believe it! Whether you’re planning a fancy night out on the town, or a cozy dinner in, it’s fun to put on a special outfit and celebrate the fresh start of a new year.
We’re hosting a few friends for dinner and I’m using a traditional gold and black color palette for the table decor. As I plan the menu and think about the environment I want to create for my guests, I thought I’d share three quick tips for planning your New Year’s Eve party. These tips could easily be applied to a NYE wedding as well!
1. Make it Festive! It’s a celebration after all. Whether that’s a fun champagne bar, a large floral arrangement, or festive napkins, add something out of the ordinary to make your guests feel special.
2. Think courses! Not everyone stays up until midnight on a Thursday night, so plan a meal that you can draw out with courses. Maybe you start with drinks and appetizers, then into a plated salad, followed by an entree and then dessert just before midnight. This will keep the conversation flowing and lengthen the meal time. In order to keep food warm, select side dishes that can be made ahead of time and then reheated as appetizers are being served. If cooking the whole meal feels overwhelming, pick a culinary theme and ask guests to bring a dish.
3. Add Champagne! It’s not a New Year’s Eve party without champagne. If guests prefer a cocktail over champagne, think about champagne cupcakes for dessert. Either way, this festive beverage will get everyone in the spirit of the new year.
Here is some inspiration we’ll be using for our New Year’s Eve party and we hope it inspires you as well. Be sure to check out more images on our Pinterest board!
