Last October we participated in the Northlake Wedding Tour, and we had a blast! The tour takes you to 7 different wedding venues in the north lake Washington area. Each venue is assigned a planner who selects vendors to participate and each venue has one photographer, one florist, one dj, etc. As you travel from venue to venue, you get to meet tons of Seattle’s finest in the wedding industry, taste cake and appetizers, as well as sip on some bubbly and be inspired.
I was selected to design and coordinate for the UW Center for Urban Horticulture. I selected a Bohemian Botanical wedding theme because I wanted to tie in the horticulture, and adding a boho twist gave it just the look I was going for. I could see a Pacific Northwest, or Californian couple, getting married with this design theme and so I created everything with them in mind.
I started by selecting my vendors, because a great vision is nothing if you don’t have the right team to execute it. The vendors who accompanied me on the tour are some of my absolute favorites, so it was great to work with them.
I partnered with Flower Lab for the florals, my dear friend Celena from Francis & Co. for the calligraphy and paper goods, Grand Event Rentals for the linens, tableware and drape, Vintage Ambiance for the lounge furniture, chalkboard signs as well as signature pieces and Gather Tables for the stunning wood tables. BAKED Custom Cakes gave everyone delicious cake samples while Integral DJs played some sweet jams, and Herban Feast kept our bellies full with tasty appetizers and a signature cocktail. Makeup Artist Angela touched up everyone’s lip color, and of course my talented friend Tonie from Tonie Christine Photography captured the whole thing (and had one of the coolest booths that was hand made by her hubby).
For the design I of course started with green in lots of varying shades. I wanted plant colors to be the base for everything. I softened the look with blush, touches of gold and mustard yellow, along with almond brown and hints of copper. I really tried to create a balanced look that was both botanical and bohemian without going over the top on either one.
To add boho touches I softened the room with cozy throw blankets, pillows and overstuffed chairs as well as lace whenever possible. I also added gold tipped feathers to one of the tables and made sure that everything was cohesive, but had a little bit of mix-match. To add botanical touches I let the talented ladies at Flower Lab cover the space in large palms of varying shapes and colors.
Check back on Wednesday for detailed images of the two tables we designed, as well as info on how to create your own macramé backdrop!
