When I started to ponder what I wanted to do for my upcoming 30th birthday, I knew right away that I didn’t want to take a trip, I didn’t want a special present, I just wanted to spend an evening with close family and friends. I wanted to do what I love, designing a memorable experience for people. I wanted to gift each guest with a wonderful evening to show them how much I love them, and how much they mean to me.
My parents have a beautiful home on Bainbridge Island, WA (a thirty minute ferry ride across from Seattle), that has been in our family for three generations. An alfresco dinner on the roof of the boat house looking out at the Puget Sound was the perfect background for our feast. I designed the evening with my guests seated at one long table that would line the length of the boat house. Unfortunately the weather had other plans that night and we had to move inside, but as the rain came down and we sat inside with candle light, the evening was more intimate and cozy than I could have imagined.
Even with a little hiccup in the weather, I had the best 30th birthday party and it was an evening I will never forget!
