On a sunny day in October, Sammy Scharg and Dan Ketchel were wed in a traditional Jewish ceremony surrounded by friends and family at SoDo Park in Seattle, WA. This modern black-tie affair had minimalist touches of white florals, soft candlelight and a show-stopper of a chuppa that broke up the industrial feel of the building. Her ‘something blue’ was her great-grandmother’s hankie that had been passed down for generations and beautifully pinned to her bouquet. The couple’s personalities really shined through with details such as walking out to an acoustic version of Jay Z’s “99 Problems”, wedding party photos at a local ice cream shop and bar, plus a custom-made neon sign which summed up the night perfectly- It was all a dream.

We were honored to design the florals for this wedding which we kept to all white (with little to no greenery) using hydrangeas, roses, lisianthus, dahlias, ranunculs and more. We choose to display each arrangement in a glass vase so we didn’t add any color or texture to the centerpieces, keeping the overall aesthetic streamlined. With the addition of lots of candlelight we were able to create a warm glow for this late-Fall wedding. The juxtaposition of these modern elements in such a rustic space was a fresh spin on the quintessential Seattle venue and we loved the end result.
