Rachel and Ryan were an absolute pleasure to work with. Both are very down to Earth and share a mutual love and importance for family. That presence was felt in many ways, whether through Rachel and Ryan’s heartfelt vows to one another, a ceremony processional featuring parents and grandparents or tables full of old family wedding portraits. This day wasn’t just about Rachel and Ryan, it was about their two families coming together as one. Needless to say, we couldn’t wait to be part of it and to help plan their whimsical winery wedding!
If you are from the local area, you might remember the awful wildfires that Washington experienced last summer. Towns were being evacuated, Washington’s air quality was being compared to Beijing and on a side note, this wedding almost didn’t go as planned. Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum, WA was being evacuated and weeks before the wedding, the couple (and us) were scrambling to form a ‘Plan B’ for their wedding. As if weddings weren’t stressful enough!
Rachel and Ryan handled the situation with grace and ultimately decided to move forward with the original plan at Swiftwater Cellars. And on a beautiful day in September, they said “I do” in front of two hundred family and friends. Smoke not included. Silver lining: Due to so many cancellations Suncadia experienced from the press surrounding the wildfires, the couple and their wedding guests had almost the entire resort to themselves.
Shortly after the ceremony, cocktail hour began out on the patio where wine barrels were transformed into bistro tables adorned with candles, succulents, and florals. Guests were treated to local wines and small bites as they mingled. Once ushered downstairs into the wine cellar they were met with soft candlelight and a warm palette of fall colors. No detail was missed, as individualized name cards were tied with ribbon to each table setting on top of alternating linen and seersucker napkins. It was a nice touch of texture to the gorgeous tablescape of mismatch floral centerpieces.
The party kept going as guests received glow sticks on their way out with instructions to the after-party. It was a magical night with a lot to celebrate about.
Thank you to all of the vendors that helped make this beautiful wedding happen!
